OEIE’s Integrated Technology team understands the important role of data management in evaluation projects. Toward this end we develop and maintain tools to help gather, analyze, and present data with a focus on report automation and user-friendly systems.
Our approach begins with understanding the needs of both the client and the evaluation team. We then build a variety of solutions from fillable Word forms or Excel spreadsheets, to Access databases, to comprehensive web applications. We use our combined experience in technology to build systems that are sustainable and that work well with the evaluation process.
Our expertise doesn’t stop at building these systems – we also provide ongoing maintenance and technical support for all applications we build. Reliable support for your technology is essential so we maintain a fast response time with knowledgeable answers and are committed to continually improving these tools.
In collaboration with K-State Research and Extension and SNAP-Ed, OEIE built the Program Evaluation And Reporting System (PEARS). PEARS is a web-based data management system built around SNAP-Ed and cooperative extension reporting requirements and processes. It is now in use by 19 SNAP-Ed states (and counting), plus a few statewide cooperative extension programs.
In 2013-14, OEIE built a new web-based system to streamline data collection for NSF EPSCoR programs. Originally called "DAISy," this system evolved into a more generic project reporting tool now in use by a variety of projects. To focus on the ongoing development and maintenance of this system, Piestar Inc. was founded in 2014 as a spin-off company out of OEIE. Piestar offers cloud-based tools optimized to support collaborative data & project management systems, program evaluation systems, and application review systems. Learn More…
